Final Presentation of Invited Teachers from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Mongolia, and the Philippines

26 Invited Teachers from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Mongolia, and the Philippines successfully completed their three-month educational activities in Korea and returned home.

On 8 July, APCEIU hosted the Final Presentation, and about 70 people attended, including the invited teachers, officials from ministries of education of the partner countries, and representatives from the host schools. In this event organized to share the achievements of the invited teachers’ educational activities conducted in 13 host schools for three months from April, the invited teachers from four countries shared their experiences of teaching specific subjects and their own culture in primary and secondary schools in Korea. They also discussed their future plans and exchanged opinions.

 

 

The opening ceremony was attended by delegates from partner countries, including Ms. Gloria Jumamil-Mercado, Undersecretary for Human Resource and Organization Development of the Department of Education in the Philippines, Ms. Vongdeuan OSAY, Deputy Director-General from the Department of Teacher Education, Ministry of Education and Sports in Lao PDR, Ms. Narantuya SHAR, Director of Department of International Relations and Cooperation from Ministry of Education and Science Mongolia, and Mr. Mok Sarom, Deputy Director General from the Directorate General of Education, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport in Cambodia and also Ms. Je Yujin, Deputy Director of Educational Globalization Division, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea. They confirmed the outcomes of the face-to-face invitation programme, which resumed after three years.

The teachers from each country had time to reflect on their activities in Korea over the past three months. Cambodian teacher Eang Kemchhean said, “It was a great opportunity for me to gain a lot of knowledge about educational activities and global culture. Also, the experience of living in a different culture and new environment has changed me a lot on my habits.“ On the other hand, Ms. Vongdeuan OSAY, Deputy Director-General from Lao PDR, participating in the on-site invitation programme for the first time this year, emphasized the significance of the programme by mentioning “Lao teachers have had a great opportunity to explore themselves to learn about not only the educational system in Korea but also a chance for them to experience different teaching skills including designing various activities in which motivated pupils to involve in learning.” “Therefore, I am positive that this is a wonderful period of time for the Lao teachers to strengthen their pedagogical skills and enhance their intercultural literacy and mutual understandings across different cultures.”

The APTE programme will continue for the second half of the year with invitations from three countries-Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
