Korean Teachers Dispatched to Thailand

Eight Korean teachers participating in the 2023 Asia-Pacific Teacher Exchange for Global Education (APTE) flew to Thailand to begin their educational activities.

After completing the Pre-Departure Training at APCEIU in February and online lectures, the Korean exchange teachers participated in Local Adjustment Training from the 16th to the 19th of May. The Office of the Basic Education Commission, Ministry of Education Thailand (OBEC) organized the training, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand, for Korean exchange teachers.

Personnel from OBEC Thailand gave lectures on overall Thailand in the brief, basic curriculum to the lesson, school life, teaching in Thai classrooms and the education system in Thailand on the first day of the Local Adjustment Training. The dispatched Korean teacher had the chance to plan and implement a practice lesson on a subject in front of the current Thai teachers to be guided and advised.

Furthermore, Korean exchange teachers learned the basic Thai language for local adaptation. Afterwards, the teachers visited the Korean Education Center in Thailand and attended lectures on Thai culture and daily safety protocols in Thailand. Finally, the Korean teachers were given a consultation with the director.

On the last day of the training, APCEIU staff informed the teachers from the host schools of the guidelines about the schools and the online platform called NETS being implemented to further assist them in adjusting to the Korean teachers’ education activities.

Before being dispatched to their host schools, a handover ceremony was held for Korean teachers, including all the mentor teachers and co-teachers invited from the four host schools.

Eight Korean teachers will be dispatched to four schools in Thailand, where they will teach their specialty subjects integrated with Global Citizenship Education as well as Korean language and culture for about three months. As we end the first half of APTE Programme with dispatching Korean teachers to Thailand this May, the second half of dispatching Programme of the following countries, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, and the Philippines, will be implemented in August.
